Becoming a Beta Alpha Psi member is highly recommended if you are an accounting, Finance or BIS major! We invite professionals to speak about various topics relating to the financial services fields and your career. Attending these meetings can give you the opportunity to learn about the different career paths, as well as familiarize yourself with firms that recruit directly from OSU. Come eat some food, listen to professionals, and build your network!
The Epsilon Chapter has four membership levels:
- Affiliate Members: This is specifically for Freshmen and Sophomores who have completed or are enrolled in BA 211 Financial Accounting. This level of membership allows underclassmen the opportunity to experience membership in a well organized professional honor society.
- Candidates: Pathway to becoming a full Beta Alpha Psi Member for upperclassmen.
- Members: Members have served as candidates and have been initiated as full members. Initiated members have voting rights.
- Distinguished Members: Have met the hour requirements to become Distinguished Members and earned the right to wear Beta Alpha Psi honor cords upon graduation.

Benefits of serving as an affiliate member:
(In addition to the benefits listed under “serving as a candidate”)
- Gain exposure to upperclassmen, professors and professionals.
- Have the opportunity to interact with those who can mentor you and help you in your academic and professional pursuits.
- Have the ability to serve in non-officer leadership roles within the club.
Note: Only initiated members have voting rights.
Affiliate Membership Requirements:
- Intended major: Accounting, Finance, or BIS.
- Have attained a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25.
- Completed or currently enrolled in BA 211.
Benefits of serving as a candidate:
- Get to attend all BAP sponsored events
- Gain opportunities to build and strengthen your resume through service and professional development activities. This adds value to potential employers.
- Foster relationships with upperclassmen, faculty and professionals to grow your network and understanding of the field and the academic requirements as well as career paths available.
- Gain a better understanding of what the fields of Accountancy, Finance and Business Information Systems have to offer.
- Gain an understanding of what Beta Alpha Psi – Epsilon Chapter has to offer, which makes becoming an officer easier when you are eligible.

Step One: Serve as a Candidate
Candidacy usually lasts about 2 terms:
- Attend the biweekly meetings. Meetings are held Wednesdays at 6pm in Austin 226.
- Tutor at least one hour per week.
- Participate in at least one Beta Alpha Psi community service event.
- Complete the 32 hour requirement. More information explaining what events count towards your total, can be found here.
Step Two: Membership
To be initiated as a member, you must have served as a candidate and meet the requirements in the table above.
Note: Candidates must complete the membership requirements within the same academic year in which the student applies for membership (Typically Junior year)
Step Three: Maintaining Membership
- Maintain the membership grade requirements as listed in the table at the top of the page.
- Complete the 32 hour requirement for returning members, found here.
Distinguished Members:
- The hour requirements can be found here.
- Becoming a Distinguished member allows the member to wear BAP chords upon graduation.
